Certificate in Hairdressing III & Certificate in Barbering III – Cutting
Obviously cutting hair can be layer upon layer, it can be blunt and to the point, or it can be a creative design process that springs off in all sorts of directions! Our process is to teach the rudimentary basics, hone our students’ skills to more advanced levels, and produce tomorrow’s budding Hairdressers and Barbers, who will go on to have amazing careers (we hope).
Our students at BIBA Hair Academy in Fitzroy and Swanston Street, Melbourne, experience real time cutting skill practice, that focuses on the completion of designated competency modules to become a Qualified Hairdresser, or a Qualified Barber. Unlike some Hairdressing academies and schools, our BIBA students mostly work on real heads – not mannequins – and the overall training programs for a Certificate III in Hairdressing, or a Certificate III in Barbering, at BIBA, are implemented holistically.
The syllabus for Cutting in our BIBA Academy Courses is aligned as follows:

- SHBHCUT002 Create one length or solid haircut structures
- SHBHCUT003 Create graduated haircut structures
- SHBHCUT004 Create layered haircut structures
- SHBHCUT005 Cut hair using over-comb techniques
- SHBHCUT006 Create combined haircut structures
- SHBHCUT007 Create combined traditional and classic men’s haircut structure
- SHBHCUT007 Create combined traditional and classic men’s haircut structure
- SHBHCUT009 Cut hair using freehand clipper techniques
- SHBHCUT011 Design and maintain beards and moustaches
- SHBHCUT012 Shave heads and faces
- SHBHCUT013 Provide men’s general grooming services
Lyndal Salmon leads our Cutting Team of Educators with gusto. Much as Lyndal is an all-round Hairdressing impresario, she particularly excels in the cutting sphere, having won multiple international awards for hair design, styling and creativity. Lyndal is mostly based at our Fitzroy Hair Academy location, and our students are completely in awe of her incredible drive, attention to detail, and passionate love for educating others.
When asked what she loves about hairdressing, Lyndal is quick to answer –
