Apprentice Assessments in Salons
Assessing your Hairdresser and Barber Apprentices Onsite – Would you like to leave it to BIBA?
We can come to you to gauge your apprentices’ mastery of practical learning components…
BIBA Hair Academy understands how hard it is for salon owners to run the shop, manage the business, set up the rosters and keep up with all of the unknowns that have to be dealt with. We’ve been in the business of owning our own hairdressing salons for forty seven years, and we have the reputation for training and mentoring thousands of Australia’s finest hairstylists. We fully understand that a regular part of the routine, for salon owners, is to take on an apprentice or two, give them opportunities to learn on the floor and coordinate with their training hairdresser school, oversee and assess the tasks required, and record the results. BUT it takes time to get those assessment processes completed – and most often time is the one thing that just gets away – day after day!
Simon Divitaris, from BIBA, is always looking at ways to innovate and improve on ways to reduce the load of salon owners. “I’m seeking expressions of interest from Melbourne Hairdressing Salon Owners. Our students can study and be assessed for the theoretical elements of the Certificate III in Hairdressing or Barbering Courses. However, the prac assessments need salon owner interaction at a concentrated level. Here, we anticipate setting up a system where our designated hairdressing apprentice trainers can come to you and assess your Apprentices – at your place of business! Naturally, we would offer this kind of in-house assessment on a booked appointment basis. The salon would need to provide a client/model at the time of the visit, and the student hairdresser would be required to demonstrate the skill or technique indicated during the time of our visit.
With staffing levels an issue for many businesses in the industry, BIBA Academy wants to help. We’re dedicated to training our students and we depend on the salons to partner with us to ensure the learning is applied in-between times. With staff illnesses, rising operating costs and seemingly no time for anything ‘extra’, we can provide a service that will keep our students flowing forward, whilst you, the salon owner, can get on with what you have to do. Naturally, if our collaboration with you helps to ensure the apprentice graduates sooner, there are benefits all round.”
Contact us at BIBA Academy if this is something that appeals to you. If we can garner enough interest, we’ll put the wheels in motion and get back to you with more details soon.
