Marilyn Guarino
Marilyn joined BIBA Academy because her love of hair is only matched by her love of education. Marilyn has been in the industry for over twenty years with a broad background salon ownership and management but has spent the latter part of her career as a teacher. After honing her teaching skills at other hairdressing schools in Melbourne, she finally joined us after falling in love values the environment of growth and encouragement that is always in the room. She’s motivated to our students in every way
“What I love about BIBA is how the learning and training never stops – even for the staff. We’re all encouraged to be the best we can be, to evolve and enter competitions, to learn from each other, and attend training nights together. It’s that sense of constant progression and feeling that it’s all about the hair, and providing nurturing support, that makes our Hairdressing Academy in Melbourne so special. Our students pick-up on our camaraderie and it helps them build in confidence. All of our Educators have an area of specialisation (some more than one) and the step-by-step approach we follow means that our students can progress at their own level, knowing that they can feel comfortable and reassured that, whatever their learning pace is, there’s always someone available to find the best learning process that fits them (as a student).”
Marilyn is currently upgrading her colouring skills to add another string to her bow, and she particularly enjoys finding unique ways to help our students understand that the textbook techniques and approaches to ‘doing’ hair can always be enhanced with a little improvisation here and there. After all, no two client heads are ever the same, and neither are our Educators at BIBA Hairdressing Academy.
“Knowing that I’d been accepted to join the Educator team at BIBA Academy made me so excited. And now that I’ve been nominated for the HBIA Educator of the Year since joining the team, I feel even more ambitious to share my ten years of hairdressing teaching experience with BIBA Academy’s students.” Marilyn Guarino, 2017.
